Andy Mumford of MBA Tanks Scheduled to Speak at VIPS 2008

Long Time VideoRay User Andrew Mumford Talks Tanks at VIPS

Phoenixville, PA - MBA is a coating inspection and consulting company that specializes in Water Storage Tanks, Underwater Inspections, and Protective Coatings Inspection. Established in New Castle, DE, in 1986, they have provided coating inspection and consulting services for Private Water Companies, Public Utilities, United States Coast Guard, NASA, United States Navy, Engineering firms, and Petroleum Companies. Their underwater inspection services have proven to be a very practical solution for inspecting and performing minor maintenance on such structures as Potable Water Storage Tanks, Fire Protection Tanks, Raw Water Intakes, Dams, and Clear-wells

MBA's Vice President Andy Mumford has inspected countless tanks, reservoirs, wells, pipes, intakes, and dams with his VideoRay Pro 2 ROV. His extensive experience has also made him an exceptional VideoRay pilot. Clients rely on his ability to capture valuable video which is used to asses potential maintenance and repair issues.

An excerpt from MBA's website:

"The (VideoRay) ROV has proven itself to be tremendously useful with providing underwater video inspections in pipes, intakes, tanks, and dams. The ROV has a diameter of approximately 10" and a height that is less than 9.5". The ROV can adequately access and maneuver in a 24" pipe. The ROV's major advantage is it's size, and video capabilities. Not to mention that this inspection is completed with half the crew that is needed to perform the Dive inspections. The ROV enables easier access into tanks, as the height of the water level, and isolation of the tank is not as much of a concern as it is with the Dive inspections. Not to mention, safety and confined space entry concerns are lessened due to the fact that we are not inserting a Diver."

The title of Andy's presentation is “Identifying Corrosion and Coating Failures Through Visual Inspections Performed Utilizing the VideoRay

Attendees will be provided with guidenance and insight into identifying and understanding Coating Failures and the Corrosion process. Visual aids such as digital photographs and video clips captured during inspection’s will be shown and discussed during the presentation. Additional information will be provided on where further information can be found on the internet, and what coating solutions are available for underwater application, and immersion service.

Andy will also be instructing an all day In-Depth Workshop on Thursday, October 30, 2008:

"VideoRay's Vital Role in Performing Tank and Coating Inspections."

All aspects of performing a proper tank inspection will be presented, and discussed through this classroom presentation and hands on workshop.  Attendees will gain knowledge in types of tanks, components of tanks, types of coatings applied to tanks, identifying corrosion and coating failures, quantifying information gathered during inspection, repair options, and an introduction to safe work practices.
