Knoxville Emergency Squad Volunteer to share Underwater Technology Expertise - October 07, 2009
Mark Walker of KVERS to discuss practical use of inexpensive underwater robotics at VIPS 2009
Most professional law enforcement organizations have the budget to purchase products from VideoRay’s professional line – Pro 3s, and the new Pro 4s. These have the most capabilities – they can dive the deepest in the fastest currents, use sonars to “see” through murky water, carry instruments and positioning systems, and get the most challenging missions done.
VideoRay’s Scout and Explorer models, however are generally purchased by recreational users and some commercial users with less demanding applications – such as some potable water tank inspection, where the water is clear and calm. However, using techniques that will be explained by Mr. Walker, these models can be used in some cases by search and recovery teams. Attendees will learn how this can be done from a senior member of a volunteer search and rescue group who made it happen.
